Archie Brown had not thought of the thalidomide babies for a long time. The best Archie remembered, the drug was used for contraception back in 60s and 70s. And then it was discovered that thalidomide users who later had children often had children with serious deformities and other handicaps.
The thing that had sparked Archie's memories of those babies was an item he was reading promoting O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949. But the culprit drugs these days appear to be antidepressants, some of the very popular over the last few years.
It seems as though the Austin law firm is working on a big Zoloft Lawsuit. There is some evidence that Zoloft, as well as some other antidepressants currently on the market, have contributed to children being born with some of the same maladies as those thalidomide babies four decades ago.
Such reports cause Archie to shake his head in wonder about the wisdom of approving drugs without recognizing the potentially devastating side effects can be generated. And it makes him hope that no one he knows who is still in childbearing years is taking any of those drugs these days.
