I have started watching this show on NBC called , “Prime Suspects”. The main character is Maria Bello, I started watching her and really liking her when she was a doctor on the hospital drama, “ER”. One thing that was really interesting on the crime show, that it different from a lot of the other crime shows is that they use a hypnotist to interview witnesses. It is actually pretty cool. During one hypnotism, one guy completely recites one of the inning of a game he was watching and then provides information about the exact time that he heard a shooting and also gives detailed information about the shooter that he saw. Apparently, under hypnotism, you recite things that you don’t even remember at the conscience level. It makes me wonder if police officers really use this tactic and if it really works. I have always been interested in crime show and detective stuff. They’re wonderful as they are but since we recently got <a href="http://www.satelliteinternetbroadband.com">satellite internet broadband</a> at home I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t putting them in a position that made it hard for them to keep track of how much time they were using the internet and how much they were spending outside and on school work. I don’t really want to have to impose really hard time limits on anything since I want them to trust me but I’m kind of at a loss…does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking that 1 hour of web time a night is probably sufficient for each of them but I don’t really have any idea if that’s too much or too little. So Archie took notice when it was announced in August that there was a recall of 93,000 hip replacement units by the Depuy Orthopedic, a subsidiary of the Johnson & Johnson Corporation. He called his stepmother to find out if he knew what brand of unit had been placed in her hip, but she said she did not. Archie urged her to contact her doctor and find out.<br /><br />A couple of weeks later Archie saw a commercial on television by <a href="http://txinjurylawfirm.com/depuy-hip-lawsuit">Depuy recall attorney</a>. It reminded him that he had not heard from his stepmother about her situation. So he called her again and found out that she had not yet gotten around to making the phone call to her doctor. He has always made sure that his television provider carries the Astros' games, even the home games. Archie has used cable and two different satellite providers. He is currently aggrivated that Dish Network is feuding with Fox Sports Houston. The last game of the Astros season was not shown on television because of the squabble. It is an offshoot of spades, so if you know about trumps, you will have no trouble picking up Cutthroat.<br /><br />To begin, deal seven cards to each player (4 or more players is the most fun, and you can play with up to seven). When each hand has been dealt, the dealer turns up the next card on the deck to determine trump for that hand. So trump can change each hand.<br /><br />The first player to the left of the dealer bids on how many tricks s/he thinks s/he can catch. Every one bids around to the dealer. One of the differences between cutthroat and spades is that the total number of bids must not equal the number of tricks available in the hand. So if the bids have totaled six when the dealer is to bid, he may not bid one, anything but. That assures that every hand at least one player will have his "throat cut".<br /><br />The hand begins with the first bidder leading any card s/he wants, including trump. Everyone must follow suit if he can, high card wins the trick. If a player does not follow suit, he cannot win the trick unless s/he trumps.<br /><br />The game proceeds by dealing six cards to each palyer for the second hand, five for the next and so on down to one. Then you proceed back up to seven, by adding one card to the deal till you get back to seven. The game is over after thirteen hands, high scorer wins.<br /><br />The scoring in Cutthroat is a bit different than spades as well. You can only score if you catch exactly the number of tricks you bid. If you bid 2 and catch 3, no points. If you bid 3 and catch 2, no points. There is no penalty like in spades where you subtract the underbids. That name came from the lake that had been dug by the slaves on the sugar plantation owned by Abner Jackson, brother of Andrew Jackson. <br /><br />Almost everything in Lake Jackson was within walking distance from everything else. Residents walked to school and to the movies and to the woods or the Little League Park, which was the center of civic activity in the summer months. <br /><br />Archie and his buddies, Wayne and Larry, lived a carefree life and did almost everything together. Archie’s dad came to think that MeWayneandLarry was one word, as in “MeWayneandLarry are going to the drug store for a coke.” Or “MeWayneandLarry are going to fish at Lost Lake.”<br /><br />Fashion was never an issue for Archie; he wore Levi’s, tee shirts and Keds most of the time, unless he was going to church. Then he wore a suit and tie and a pair of penny loafers. Archie’s dad had been a sailor and had no use for duck-tail haircuts, so Arch wore a crew cut most of the time. <br /><br />Before their twelfth birthday, Archie and his pals could get into the Lake Theater for twenty cents. From his quarter allowance that left a nickel for popcorn or a candy bar. Most of the time he got a roll of LifeSavers because they lasted longer. Archie liked the Wild Cherry ones best. <br /><br />When someone turned twelve, the price of a ticket to the picture show went up to fifty cents. Archie solved the problem of the price increase by getting a job at the theater. Not only did he earn some pin money, but he also got into the movies free when he was not working! But that does not keep him from having an interest in those enjoy a more glamorous style. He is intrigued with stories of those who have climbed the ladder to the top rungs. He recently read about another of those when he found an article about <a href="http://thgworldwideblog.com/leadership-biographies/paul-meakins/">Paul Meakins</a> on the blog that was recently launched by THG Worldwide.<br /><br />Mr. Meakins had been with the Financial Times in London, as an executive in advertising sales. But his move to THG Worldwide opened some doors that made Archie a bit wistful. Meakins has worked in the companies offices in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, before moving to the Chicago office, where he now works with North American CEO, Jon Stromberg, in finding, recruiting, and training team members, as well a managing their performance. <br /><br />THG Worldwide is a Marcus Evans company that provides corporate hospitality services at the most spectacular sporting events in the world! Ronda's mother is ill, hospitalized and facing a nursing home when whe is released. Ronda is having to go over there quite often, twenty or so miles away. The Browns are also raising two grandsons, 9 and 7, and are worn out at the end of every day. That is about fiftten cents less than they had seen it the previous day. But later in that day Archie bought gas for $2.99. Now, one week later, he paid $2.69 per gallon. That is a significant drop, but not nearly as much as the drop in the cost of crude oil. She said, in the future, every home in America will have a microwave oven!” The Browns rolled our eyes at the prediction.<br /><br />For their tenth anniversary, Archie wanted to give Ronda a special gift. He went to our local Sears store and wandered around looking for the right thing. When he came to the microwaves, Arch knew that was what he wanted to give her. Ronda was floored, but she said. “It cost too much, and I will never use it.” <br /><br />That oven lasted for twenty years and was probably the most used appliance in their home, with the possible exception of the television. When it finally broke, Archie's wife went the store that afternoon and found a replacement before dark. He was not in the Mall over fifteen minutes. <br /><br />Archie is surely not a fan of shopping on the Friday following Thanksgiving, the so called Black Friday. The designation has to do with the idea that a store will make it out of the red ink and into profitability. Archie does not savor the huge crowds, even to take advantage of the great deals many of the merchants use to promote the day. <br /><br />Last year Archie was glad to find the web site called Black Friday.net. It is the place to go to find all the deals that are being offered in the stores without having to fight the traffic and the crowds. He fully intends to take advantage of the service this year to find out about the <a href="http://www.black-friday.net/">2008 thanksgiving specials</a>. Christmas shopping does not have to be a big circus. Here is what he wrote for the challenge.<span style="font-style:italic;"></span></span><br /><br />I could tell about the time when I was 12 years old and lied to my dad about someone stealing my gym clothes, but that is probably not the worst mistake I have made. I could tell you about a time when my daughter was two and I was explaining to her when she should not do what she had just done ever again. I held her by both arms and spoke very sternly to her. The next day I saw where there were bruises on the inside to both of her arms where I had been holding her attention. But I don't want to you about that. <br /><br />So I think I will tell you about them long ago. I had bought a doughnut shop, the same one which had worked as a high-school boy. The first year-and-a-half of the business, we did very well. Then the union workers of the chemical plant in our community went on strike. I was invited to cross the picket line and take doughnuts in to the salaried personnel that were running the plant during the strike. I was promised I would be guaranteed to sell hundred dozen doughnuts a day for the duration of the strike. I declined to take the offer, for couple of reasons. <br /><br />First, I had grown up in a union home it and it would've gone against my conscience to cross a picket line, even though by that time my dad was salaried and in the plant. Second, I was fairly certain that the strike would not last for long and I did not want to alienate friends and customers if I crossed the picket line. <br /><br />But the strike lasted for 13 weeks. Those union workers had a very hard time it recouping from the strike. We found out that donuts are a luxury, if you don't have money you don't buy doughnuts. <br /><br />I could have made enough money during the strike to a pay off my business loans and would have been able to weather any storms after the strike. But because the decision I made not to cross the picket line, my business fell off by a more than 65%. We worked very hard for more than a year to try to make a comeback. But it was not to be and we the lost business. In some ways that was a mistake. She will post a book for any one who is interested in participating to read by the 25th of the month. Then each participant will post his or her report on the book on their own blog, with a link to the book club site. The boy is a freshman and just began running track this spring. He runs the mile and the two mile races. They debarked, taking the boys into town. Archie had been to San Juan before, so he knew two things to do that would please the boys. First they went to the Castillo de Crostobal, a huge castle and fort that overlooks the sea. After the boys finished exploring the place, the Browns took them to the square where they caught a horse drawn carriage for a ride through the city. But this spring he had a little trouble with <a href="http://www.biotene.com/products/senstooth.asp">sensitive teeth</a>, mostly with one of his lower left molars. When he drank something cold he had a sharp pain. And even when he was running, when he drew a deep breath, his tooth ached. <br /><br />he did not want to see the dentist, but he was to go on a trip to the Caribbean island of Dominica. The facilities there are not quite up to our standards, so Archie went to get the tooth taken care of so he would not have to see a dentist on the island! The tooth got filled and capped. <img src="http://tinyurl.com/2fxa8a" /><br /><br />But on the second day of the trip, the cap came off Archie's tooth. Rather than go to an island dentist, he suffered through the trip till he could get home and to his dentist. <br /><br />Archie had tried some of the so called sensitive tooth pastes, but they did not cure anything, only covered the symptoms. Then he had a neighbor that received a free sample of Biotene tooth paste for sensitive teeth. Its formula is designed to diminish the problems, not simply mask them. Probably my favorite is Rob Roy, which starred Liam Neeson. I have considered the villain in that film to be one of the best of all history. He was truly wicked and made himself to the object of evil. <img src="http://tinyurl.com/2c4snx" /><br /><br />At one point in the movie he brutally violated Rob Roy's wife and left her alive to tell her husband of the vindictive act, just to provoke Roy into presenting himself for combat with a sword. His being a superior swordsman left him sure that if Roy came to face him it would mean the demise of the fugitive Roy. <br /><br />But the villain did not fully measure the power of revenge. Though Rob Roy was not nearly the expert with a sword, his passion and commitment were more than enough to overcome the villain. In the climactic scene, Roy simply grabbed his opponent's sword, despite the damage to his hand, and plunged a blade into the heart of his nemesis. It was one of the most powerful scenes I have ever seen. <br /><br />I was just encouraged to <a href="http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/5626-53275-20114-3?mpt=ppp">visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site</a>, to see the trailer and read about the plot of the movie. The confusion has caused him to be unable to find his way home from the church building, though it is only blocks form his house. They have played in a league at the YMCA. It was their first time to play organized soccer and they have enjoyed it. All the grand parents and great grandparents made a noisy cheering section. And one of the grandsons scored the only goal of the match.
