Did You Hear About Our Young Adults Activities?

Archie Brown and his wife, Ronda, love to host the young adults of the congregation they attend at functions in their home. The Browns remember how hard it is when you are young adult to find a way to fit into the life of a new congregation. So the Browns offer a game night every other Tuesday, alternating with a Bible study or book study the other Tuesdays. There is always food to go along with the fun and the fellowship.

Did You Hear About My Baseball Card Collection?

Archie Brown was going through some of his baseball cards, trying to decide whether to get started again with the hobby that he had pursued with such vigor for about 15 years, or not. It had even crossed his mind to sell everything but the most treasured parts of the collection, like the 1915 Sporting News Honus Wagner card. He could not bring himself to make the decision to sell, so for now they cards are safe in his possession.

Archie Brown was sitting around watching television on his morning off. He tuned into The Price is Right just in time to see a lady win a new truck and go crazy. Bob Barker has been giving away cars and other prizes on that show now for over thirty five years. It is still popular. Archie wondered if it is the game or Barker that sustained the show. What a Gentleman

Tony Dungy is now a Super Bowl Champion. That means he has achieved the height of success as a football coach. There is the social impact in that Mr. Dungy is the first African American coach to win the NFL title game. He is one of only three men to have won a Super Bowl as both a player and head coach. All of that will be written in the history books. But I hope that along with that it is remember that Tony Dungy is a genuine gentleman!

Did You Hear About Super Sunday?

It is Sunday morning and Archie is getting ready for worship services. He wonders how many others in his neighborhood are doing the same. His thoughts expanded to wonder how many in Texas were also going to worship today. That thought moved to how many around the world would take the time to honor God and be refreshed in their faith. It gave him a moment of awe to realize he is a part of a large body of believers that stretches around the world and across time. He could not wait to be together with his brethren on this, another Super Sunday!

Did You Hear About My Super Bowl Predictions?

Archie Brown was in a conversation with his neighbor about the Super Bowl. They couldn’t decide who they thought would win. They both thought it was possible that Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison would paint a masterpiece they would enjoy for the rest of their lives. But they also acknowledged that the Colts defense against the run was suspect. So if the Bears succeed in killing the clock and keeping the Colts offense off the field, the Bears might go home the champs!
