Did You Hear About the New Blogger Book Club Forming?

A good friend of Archie Brown's has decided to put together a
Book Club gathering of bloggers each month. She will post a book for any one who is interested in participating to read by the 25th of the month. Then each participant will post his or her report on the book on their own blog, with a link to the book club site. My friend will include links back to the various posts so that the participants can peruse the other posted reports.

The book to be read for the month of April is To Kill A Mockingbird. Archie has not not read it since high school, so he will pick up a copy at the library and give it a reread.

The whole idea sounds like fun to Arch, and of course, the more the merrier!

One of Archie Brown's favorite bloggers has moved one of her blogs from blogspot.com to its own domain. Her travel journal is now Peregrine.com. As a result of the migration, the page rank has reverted back to 0. It is a great place to get travel tips and descriptions of intriguing places in the world. Archie hopes this will help you stay in touch with her and keep you in the know about her journeys .

Did You Hear About Communati.com, The New Blog Site?

There is a new blog site that has been established that will hopefully recapture the community spirit that was developed on WritingUp.com. The site is called Communati.com. I heard about its establishment from Sharon Hurley Hall. The webmaster is a friend of gracepub. There are only a few bloggers sigend up so far, the two ladies I mentioned, Pinhole and myself, along with the webmaster, marko.

I like the ideas I have read, and the place looks a lot like our old WritingUp home. I hope many of the rest of my old neighbors will find their way to Communati.com. If you decide to sign up, here is my Referral link.

And here is a link to my New Familyfunadfaith blog.

Did You Hear About My New BlogEvolve Blog?

In the past couple of days I have established a blog at Blog Evolve. It seems like a small community of bloggers/writers that enjoys interacting with each other. I am going to give it a try as a possible refuge for my Familyfunandfaith blog, in case the doors at Writing Up do actually close. I do not know if the place will be as attractive to others as it is to me, but you might like it too.

It is free to register. If you think you might enjoy the place and want to sign up, I would be pleased if you used this referral link.

Did You Hear About Writing Down?

Archie Brown has a friend who has been blogging on Writingup.com for more than a year. He's enjoyed it immensley, and made some good virtual friends in that blog community. The site has had all sorts of difficulties in the past few weeks, causing a migration away from the site by a number of the writers. One of them, known as Keywoman 1, has begun a new group on Myspace to try to recapture the magic of our community. It is called WritingDown! Here is a link to check it out: WritingDown

Did You Hear About Memory Loss?

When I signed up to blog, I accepted the charge that the best way to blog, and make money at it was to be consistent in posting. I was a little concerned at the beginning that I would quickly run out of things that I thought might be interesting enough to merit a blog.

So I began a list of ideas. I keep a list in the desk at home, and one in the drawer next to my computer in the office. If an idea occurred to me, I would jot it down so it would not slip away forever. Usually the ideas on the list consist of a key word or phrase that will help me recall the idea.

Now, one of the ideas I wrote on the list at the office several months ago is, “memory loss.” I am sure there was a funny story or a poignant point that I felt would be enjoyable for the community. I have moved that idea to a new note card five or six times, but I cannot for the life of me recall what it was I wanted to say about memory loss! How funny is that?

Then yesterday I got an email from the guy to whom my wife donated the kidney last November. It was filled with stories and jokes about old age. I want to share some of those with you now, but I am going to keep moving the note to new lists till that original idea returns to my consciousness, or blogging fades from it! For now, I hope you enjoy these funnies my friend sent.

Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: "And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?" the reporter asked. She simply replied, "No peer pressure."

I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees Fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.

And my personal favorite: My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
