Archie Brown has a sister named Cathy. She is twenty two months younger than Arch, and they never got along very well. Cathy is the only girl in the family and was spoiled. At least that is the way Archie always saw it. Their dad, Orel, made it clear that he expected Archie to protect Cathy and to defer to her because she was younger, and a girl! Archie chafed against those rules!
